Tree planting and Cheetah Pose (Vyaghrasana)

Tree Planting Animals

This month was the annual Tree Planting Day in The Children’s Forest at Whiteman Park. The Children’s Forest was established in 2001 by Men of the Trees and the Tree Planting Day is one of our favorite nature events of the year!

It’s a great opportunity to get out in the bush and get our hands dirty doing something fun and worthwhile!

The Children’s Forest is a magical place for children to give a bit back to the environment, learn about conservation and really feel apart of something that grows before their eyes.

The forest has developed over stages, with annual native tree planting days. A really fun day to be amongst fellow tree planters, faeries, forest art, wildlife, and yummy food.

My littles are Friends of the Forest and have had memberships since they were born. Hand painted tiles with childrens names on, in little huts were amongst some of the beautiful art spread through out the entire forest.

We decided to take a stroll after we planted over thirty trees, to see how the other stages of our forest were growing. It was so relaxing and exciting walking amongst the trees that we had planted years ago and discovering the forest art.

We soon came to a beautiful rest point and took advantage of our surroundings to do some yoga.

Running Cheetah Pose (Vyaghrasana)

This pose is good for strengthening your back, especially after all that tree planting. It brings fire to your belly as you pull in those stomach muscle, keeping you warm. It helps keep you connected to your breath as you purrr and growl like a cheetah.

Come onto your hands and knees. Now as you inhale, stretch out your left arm and your right leg as far out as you can, like you are a running cheetah.

Float and balance here whilst you stretch out your back and imagine you are a cheetah on the African plains.

Exhale come back over your hills into childs pose.  Breathe.

Inhale back up onto hands and knees and stretch out your opposite arms and legs. Right arm and left leg. Breathe here.

Exhale come back into childs pose.

How do you feel now?  Like a strong and wiry cheetah?
