Empowering our kids with morning rituals!

10 morning rituals

Mornings can sometimes feel somewhat stressful and rushed. By the time we are finally ready to leave the house we are all flustered, confused and sometimes even angry.

This can make for a slow and unproductive morning.  We all know that eating a nutritious breakfast can be a great way to wake up the brain, but sometimes this might not always be enough.

I want to send my children on their way, to start their day feeling relaxed, calm, focussed and empowered. A real motivational and encouraging way to start the day. Having a fresh new day to start everything over again.

I came up with some morning rituals to help mornings flow better and to also remind my little yogis every morning how wonderful the world is and how magical they are. I want them feeling proud of themselves before they have even started the day.10 morning rituals

1.  Breathe and Smile

Taking your first deep breathe in before you have even pushed back the blankets. This helps ease you gently into welcoming in the morning, a pause and a smile, knowing that you have a beautiful new day to wake to. Being grateful that you are here, breathing on this planet and it is a miracle in its self.

2. Practice Gratitude with the Rainbow Yogis Grateful project

Here is a little video to show you how we do it!  🙂

Thinking of three things you a truly grateful for every morning will bring a new light to your day. Gratitude can help a child value things in a different light and become more aware of the world around them, including all the little things that really matter.

3. Set 3 goals and intentions

Having goals and intentions set for your day is like having a little map helping lay out all the good things you want to create for your day. A positive way to make you  achieve the things that need to be done.

4. 10 minutes of yoga and movement

A great way to feel good and to get the blood pumping to the brain to help it activate, is to get active! Any kind of movement will help but especially yoga with the breath as it will encourage focus and clarity.

5. Declutter and tidy to make creative spaces

If we practice making creative and sacred spaces where we rest and write and read etc, we soon find out the benefits quickly. Cleaning becomes a quick ritual every morning so we come home from a busy day to a welcoming and inviting space to create and rest.

6. Tell yourself 3 affirmations

Three affirmations that you can take with you where ever you go, throughout the day. Reminding yourself every morning with a positive affirmation encourages confidence and focus.

7. Eat fresh, whole foods to help you feel energised

Eating well helps keep you energised and activated.

8. Treat your body like it is your temple. Look after it!

Reminding yourself every morning that your body needs care and love as it is your temple.  This will encourage self love, healthy eating choices and positive body image. love your body, it is yours and you only have one.

9. Be mindful of your responsibilities.

This one was to encourage my yogis to stay focussed on the tasks at hand, taking into consideration what needs to happen and when. Feeling responsible for the flow of your morning encourages self confidence and organisation skills. How proud will you feel if you make it out the door on time.

10. Use positive, joyful words

A little reminder to always think positive and using positive words to help ease you through any situation. Words can be powerful so use them wisely.

I have two printable versions of the 10 morning rituals ready for you to print and maybe even laminate.
