As the new year celebrations come rolling in fast and hard I take some time to be still and reflect on the past year, rather than the year ahead. This year seems to have torn some threads and shown some cracks. I said goodbye to both my grandmothers, lost some faith in humanity, discovered how tough the universe can really be. It keeps opening those doors to test me over and over again, waiting for me to react and either learn or burn! Many lessons learnt and with it exhaustion and confusion.
How can I possibly celebrate the new year with such blurry vision, resentment and confusion? I need to let it go, yes, just like the annoying song from Frozen! It’s time to let it go.
Acceptance
If I can accept the grief, the cold, hard lessons the universe presented and the hardships I endured over the past year I will find peace and gratitude. This will help me to move forward and celebrate.
Reflect on what happened, be still and breathe. Accept that the dark storms are the preparations of something better and bigger to help make that beautiful magical rainbow.
Acceptance is the first step to freedom.
Gratitude
After you have accepted the events of the past year you can start to open your heart and find the reasoning behind the bigger picture. The plan that the universe might have for you. Think about the lessons learned, the magical gifts, the doors that opened, the challenges and the blessings.
Celebrate the last year for all the ups and downs and be grateful. Smile at your last year and feel proud for making it through and being open to learning.
Rituals
Journaling
Use your journal to write down and reflect on all the good and the bad of the past year. Draw, display photos and images and create a visual diary of the last year in all its glory.
Express in words how you found acceptance and what you are grateful for.
Mantra
Use this Mantra to help with the clearing:
Let it come,
Let it go,
Let it flow.
I breathe in acceptance,
I breathe out Gratitude.
Yoga
Use Pranayama to clear and cleanse, use the asana to move the energy, to find balance within. Use mediation to reflect, be still and celebrate.
Ceremony and rituals
Releasing ceremonies clear away dust and dirt to help make the space clean and ready, open and bright for magic to happen.
Candle ceremony
Light a candle, reflect on the past years events and take some time to find acceptance and gratitude within the dancing flame.
When you feel ready, inhale with a deep reflecting smile and exhale with letting go intentions as you blow the candle out representing the release of last years events.
Mandalas
Buddhist Monks create mandalas to represent non attachment and can be a powerful way let go.
Create a nature mandala in complete silence. When ready destroy the mandala intentionally and mindfully, letting go of everything that was.
Burning Ceremony
Burning a note or something that represents 2014 is also a very powerful letting go ritual. Watching flames burn away the past can be very empowering.
Wash it away
Maybe letting a piece of nature or a lantern flow down a stream or wash away in the ocean to release the year, is one for you.
Ocean cleansing
Jump in the ocean, maybe even naked and free, let the salt water cleanse you, bringing clarity and new energy to you as you let it all go as jump under the waves.
Make a nature shrine
A shrine in your house or room with images, creations, nature or even symbols of your own choice to represent new beginnings. Affirmation cards and a candle.
However you choose to accept, let go and celebrate your new year, may it be filled with love, love, rainbows and more love. You are worth the stardust the glow of the moon and love like the ocean loves the sand.
Thank you for your friendships, magnificence, magic light beams and laughs. I am truly grateful for 21014 because I got to connect with all you shiny rainbows.
Much love and illuminecent light, Rainbow Pammy xxx
