Winter Warmers #2 – Frog Pose

Utthanasana - Frog Pose! Fun children's Yoga!

Jump like a frog to warm up your body!
Yoga is a great way to help wake up your brain and keep you warm and activated on these chilly winter mornings.

Another favorite Winter Warmer yoga pose is the Frog Squat (Utthanasana) also known as Squat and Rise Pose to big Yogis and Yoginis.  This one involves plenty of imagination and frog jumping.

Frog Pose (Utthanasana)

Come to squatting with flat feet if possible, rest your hands flat on the ground in front of you. Now see how high this little frog can jump. Don’t forget to count how many times you can jump. Try jumping from lilly pad to lilly pad.

Now rest your frog legs by coming to a sitting position. Press your feet together and pull your ankles close into your body, like frogs legs. Take a big breath in and fall back to a lying down position and keep pulling in your frog legs to open your hip joints and stretch your back. Breathe and relax.

Time to be a sleeping frog.
